Y switch keep repeating on my laptop the ivories.?

No event what I do the Y key keep repeating on my HP laptop. I have checked the the ivories for dirt and dust, plugged in an exturnal grand piano, and even disconnected the laptop keyboard by taking my laptop apart...nought works. Any ideas almost how I can fix this?

It seems that it's not a problem near the keyboard itself. I wipe the hard drive and re-installed window XP, the drivers, everything. I re-installed service pack 2 and all the updates, and the Y knob is STILL held down. Help?

Answer:

Its a hardware issue for sure.

If you want, you can try this (at ur own risk, of course):

Shut down your laptop.

Put some deodorant spray targeted around key (be particularly precise).

Leave it for some time.

Press the key a few times.

Start your laptop.

I repeat, do this at your own risk.

BEST Option: Give the nearest HP center a pop in and get it rectify.
you wiped and re-installed window, so it's not a software issue. Gotta be hardware. Contact your manufacture.
