Universal adapter will NOT hurt your laptop as long as you get the correct one. If you seize the wrong one, Then yes it will. They are safe as i use one on my spare interview laptop and that thing is other plugged in and running. Never have a problem and i have be using it for about 1 1/2 presently
Since Advent is not a big name entrepreneur you don't have highly many option. First would be their own website. They must have some sort of hardware support I assume? Next place would be ebay. If you can't find it surrounded by either place, you might want to try a general charger. Those are generic chargers that often come near several different tips to accommodate different make/models of notebooks. Make sure the tip you requirement is included with the one you buy. as advent is owned by dsg group u could try their parts company www.partsmaster.co.uk i enjoy used them b4. dont buy one of those universal psu's as the current rating could be differentand could mischief ur laptop
