Switch for wireless not turned on?

My laptop have wireless and all of a sudden the message is recounting me that my 'switch' needs to be turned on. There is not a physical switch. I own tried to repair/disable/repair and the next message that comes on is to contact the net 'owner'. What does that mean and how do I 'turn vertebrae on the switch? What is a switch, anyway? Thanks

Answer:

There may not be an actual switch per say. Some laptops, approaching Dell, use the function (fn) key and a one of the function key at the top (F1, F2, etc.) Most dells, if I am not mistaken would be to hold down the function push button (FN) and press F2. Some laptops use a button or switch to do the same point which is to activate the wireless cards radio signal. This is what allows the card to go through for a signal being put out by another wireless device. I would look at your function key for an icon that would resemble something approaching an antenna then press the fn switch along with that function switch to see if that does the trick.
Call your manufacturer. Every computer is different. I have one laptop that was internal and switched itself on. I purely recently bought a Toshiba and it have a little on sour switch on the outside of the base.
This is an preference that is element of the wireless card built into your laptop.

It is not a physical switch. It's an option that turns the wireless radio on or past its sell-by date.

There should be an icon on your toolbar (at the bottom of your screen) name Wireless Network Connection. If it is not connected there will be a RED X. Click on the god and select Connect.
