Acer is fine, not great but you get what you reward for, sony toshiba and asus are better brands to look for.

Corporates prefer not to use Acer, mainly because they are bulky. Students next to a low budget will prefer Acer.
The best ones right now are Dell, Toshiba & Mac (for the geeks).
