AMD TURION or AMD ATHLON?

Hello, I want to purchase the Inspiron 1501 from dell.com but am have trouble deciding which processor I should obtain. I know a little bit just about Intel processors but not much about AMD processors.

So AMD Turion or AMD Ahtlon? Also what's the comparison near the AMD Turion to the Intel's and the Amd Athlon's to the Intels...?

Answer:

For the Inspiron I would go beside a Turion 64... more importantly make sure you seize a good amount of RAM, at lowest 1 GB, that will affect performance lately as much or more so than the processor. And as for the comparison to Intel... I don't know what the difference is scientifically but I have individually noticed AMD processors outperform Intel, so an AMD next to 2.4 gHz is just as accurate as an Intel with 3.0... but that's only just personal preference after experience next to both brands of processors.
Turion is more a mobile processor and athlon is more a desktop processor.I would get the athlon as thats whats within my desktop its the 4200+. I like it. But laptops are different.

Actually stir with the turion as long as its is a swiftly speed, as it is optimized to save power for notebook and be a better perfomer.
AMD Athlon64 is mainly for desktops. AMD Turion is for laptops. Turion X2 would be slightly better than Intel's mobile Core Duo (32bit one and only Yonah2). BUT Intel's mobile Core2 Duo (Conroe) is best. Take note that Core Duo and Core2 Duo are hugely different.
You should get it next to AMD Athlon.
