NO, they are one of the worst brand you can get. My wife relative have a brand new expensive Gateway laptop for freshly about 2 months since it need to be repair. Try looking at HP, Lenovo or better all the same Toshiba. Try here :

Yes, I think they are. I hold one actually, and I hold never had any problems next to it. You should try BestBuy.com. Sometimes they have dutiful deals on Gateway or any other brand of laptops. Hope this help.
