I enjoy Dell Insp 6400 w/Intel(R) CoreTM 2 Duo w/667MHz FSB. Would shifting RAM from 533 to 667mhz be worth it?

Intel(R) CoreTM 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB) next to 2Gb RAM 533mhz currently. Thanks for your help!

Answer:

Hi in that. The speed difference in the slightly faster Ram would probably not be worth the money it will cost for the spanking new chip. Now adding more Ram if you own an extra slot open would be a more beneficial upgrade. Also if you finishing up buying one stick of memory that runs at 667mhz, and the one that is already within the laptop is running at 533mhz, the motherboard will run both ram chips at the lower speed. So the better upgrade would be of late doubling the amount of Ram you have within there sooner.
You will not notice the difference.

There are other factor besides the bus speed to consider (cas latency/dual channel)

Spend your money on a good video card or a faster HDD (raptor or Sata-Raid). Those will sort a modestly noticeable upsurge to your machine.
